Health Through Play

The Castle Discovery 9-in-1, Adventure, Commando & Junior Discovery multi-activity play systems are the direct result of research into children's behaviour and their preference for various physical activities (ages 3-12 years, boys and girls.)

Our unique range of activity play systems can assist in the development of skill areas of fitness - power, speed, agility, co-ordination, reaction time and balance. Active children, who enjoy physical activity when young, are much more likely to take an interest in sports such as football, rugby, swimming, hockey, netball and running, leading to a more active, healthier lifestyle. The Castle Discovery Activity play systems can assist in promoting interaction with other children and help develop good social skills.

The swings and slide are just pure fun. The different activities on the Castle Discovery play system suit children's short attention / interest span. The child can experience a level of freedom (while being supervised) in choosing the activity they prefer, the length of time spent on each activity and the sequence in which they perform each activity.

The climbing rope (knotted) completes a circuit: The child climbs up the climbing-frame, across the monkey bars and climbs down the knotted climbing rope or rope ladder (optional). The primary benefits include improvement in: body strength (particularly upper body), stamina, co-ordination and general level of fitness.

The punch bag is an interesting feature. Contrary to popular thought, our research found an equal number of girls to boys in the age group 4 - 7 used / played with the punch bag. Regular use of the punch bag can play an important role in developing a child's confidence, cardiovascular fitness (heart, lungs and circulatory systems) stamina and hand to eye co-ordination.

Strong foundation = Strength for life

Adequate Physical activity throughout childhood and teenage years, supported with a healthy balanced diet, combined with parental encouragement and interaction, has very significant positive benefits for the individual throughout their childhood and teenage years into adult life. They include:

  • Higher levels of self-esteem & confidence.
  • Lower rates of smoking and substance misuse.
  • Fewer symptoms of depression and greater well being.
  • Lower risk of developing many diseases including Coronary heart disease, colon cancer and stroke.

Strong, fit, confident children are less likely to experience bullying and better able to cope with it, if it does happen.
